Open Question: going to japan 日本, good shops? also work visa...?

19 August 2008, 9:38 pm

Im going to japan at the end of the year and will be staying in the kansai area (based in Nara, but also going to Kyoto and maybe Osaka) anyway, my boyfriend immensely dislikes anime (ill be staying with his family) so he cannot tell me any good anime shops there. Unfortunaltely I cant go to Tokyo, to Akihabara... but is there an Animate store in Osaka? Also does the Kyoto Animation studio run tours? any other good anime places in kansai? In Kyoto I hopefully want to get one of those 'Geisha' makeovers, does anyone know a good company that does these? and if anyone can recommend good sites to see in kansai... i want to go to kasuga taisha shrine, and nara park... and good places to see Geisha in Kyoto, and other famous scenic places in kyoto! :) Onto the second topic of a work Visa, I dont want one now, but im currently in the middle of completing a 3yr university degree in Australia (3yrs is the standard degree here), but ive seen that most people here are saying you need a 4year degree at least to get a work visa and teach english in japan... when i thought my standard degree would be enough... so im confused now ... its not a huge problem now because i intend to go on a 'working holiday' visa with my friend after uni before i even think of working there for an extended period of time... but its just something i was thinking about... thanks and i hope this question isnt too long....... read more
